If you are interested in volunteering but don’t know where to start, we invite you to attend the Introductory Training for Volunteers.
The introductory training, attended by approximately 250 individuals each year, is designed for those preparing for volunteer work and those already engaged as volunteers. It covers general topics essential to volunteering, providing a broader perspective on the field and alerting volunteers to potential risks while guiding their actions. The training is structured using experiential learning methods, encouraging participants to explore specific topics and exchange experiences.
We will cover the following topics:
- What is volunteering and its role in society,
- Working with diverse individuals and attitudes towards societal stigmatization,
- Giving a lot and receiving even more: motivation for volunteer work,
- The relationship between volunteers and beneficiaries,
- Rights and responsibilities of volunteers,
- Ethical principles in volunteer work.
The training will take place from 9 am to 4 pm, at Slovene Philanthropy in Ljubljana (Cesta Dolomitskega odreda 11).
How can you register for the training?
Submit an electronic application. A few days before the training we will send the applicants an email with the detailed information about the training.
Here are some impressions from previous training participants:
“It was an excellent weekend. I learned many things that will not only benefit me in volunteering but also in life.”
“I liked that we covered all those areas that we often forget about (even as volunteers). Thank you, and let’s continue spreading the ideas of volunteering.”
“The training was interesting, comprehensive, and not too long. I gained many practical examples, which, in my opinion, are an important part of the beginning.”
Slovene Philanthropy reserves the right to cancel the training in case of insufficient number of registrations.
