Free workshops on the organization and promotion of cultural events

Slovene Philanthropy and Radio Študent will hold workshops on the organization and promotion of cultural events as part of the Migrants Giving Voice to Migrants project.

The project aims to empower migrants who are significantly disadvantaged in Slovenian society to actively advocate for their needs and rights through a series of activities, directed towards increasing the sensibility of the Slovenian public about the position of migrants, strengthening media literacy, communication power and inner cohesiveness of the migrant community and creating conditions for their formal organising.

In these two workshops, participants will learn about creative ways to present their cultural and political background in another country in the form of a cultural event and in this way defend the needs of the migrant community. We will discuss different ways of selecting cultural content (literature, film, music, etc.) which represents diverse cultural production and its specific current political contexts. We will also consider ways to contextualize and present selected content. We will then focus on various aspects of organizing and promoting cultural social evenings.

The workshops will take place on 22nd and 23rd of September 2021, both days between 4 pm and 6 pm in the premises of Slovene Philanthropy (Cesta Dolomitskega odreda 11, Ljubljana). The workshops will be led by Pia Nikolič, a radio announcer and journalist at Radio Študent and a producer of cultural events.

The workshops are free, no registration is needed, participants must have one of the PCT requirements.

Welcome!
