My name is Maja, I come from Croatia, and I’ve been volunteering at the Slovene Philanthropy since August of 2023.
My volunteering experience consists of helping at a Daily centre for migrants; from cross-generation workshops, workshops with kids at the migrant shelter, learning to help designing pamphlets and social media appearance of the center. The centre is located in Logatec, which is a very calm little town, not far from Ljubljana, that has absolutely incredible nature! I’ve spent these months learning a lot about Slovenia and its culture through this little town, its nature, and its people. It has been a very eye-opening as well as humbling experience so far and I have found the Slovene Philanthropy to be full of very vibrant, hard-working people, that inspire me constantly.
Since I’m also a musician, I try to incorporate music into my volunteering as well. I’ve recorded in our Daily center what was written by the visitors … stay tuned for when we release it! 🙂
