Slovene Philanthropy

Slovene Philanthropy, Association for the Promotion of Volunteering is a humanitarian organization operating in public interest since 1992.  Our programs are aimed at increasing the quality of life in the community and advocacy for the socially weak. Our central activity is the promotion of volunteering as we firmly believe that through volunteering we can all contribute to a better and more tolerant society, based on the respect of all people regardless of their personal or living circumstances. We offer training for volunteers, mentors and organizers of volunteering activities. The values we advocate are: respect for nature and fellow man, solidarity, tolerance, equality and equal opportunities for all. We combine various activities in program units that function within Slovene Philanthropy.

We believe we are all responsible for the quality of life in our community and we wish we would all be aware of this fact. That is why our work is focused on informing, advocacy and networking. Our programs operate in areas where national institutions are not yet active or not active enough, but have room for great improvement through additional - voluntary - manpower. Such areas include: aid to refugees, children and young migrants, aid to the homeless and other persons lacking health insurance in assurance of healthcare services, advocacy of migrant worker rights, promotion of intergenerational cooperation and others. Unfortunately, the segregation of society is creating ever new areas where the engagement of people is absolutely necessary for the assurance of just society values.

Our vision is a kind and secure society that through partner cooperation of all, national and non-profit organizations, and voluntary activities of citizens assures a safe and secure environment for all, even those who are for any reason unable to provide a comfortable existence for themselves and their families.
